SessionBridge — Privacy Policy

SessionBridge is a companion app used between counseling
sessions, provided by House of Freedom ("we", "the clinic"). It lets you
journal, log medication side effects, complete brief mental-health check-ins,
and talk with an AI companion — and it routes what you record to your
counselor to review before your next session. This policy explains what we
collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Not an emergency service
SessionBridge is not for emergencies and no one monitors it in real time.
If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis
Lifeline) or call 911. These options are always available in
the app without signing in.
Information we collect
- What you record: journal entries, mood ratings,
medication and side-effect logs, and your answers to validated check-ins
(such as PHQ-9 and GAD-7).
- AI companion conversations: messages you send to the
in-app companion. The companion is an AI tool, not your
counselor, and it does not respond as a live human.
- Account information: your name and email address, used
to sign you in and connect your records to your care team.
How we use it
- Your care. Everything you record is shared with your own
counselor and care team at the clinic, to support your treatment between
sessions.
- Safety. If the app detects language suggesting you may be
in crisis, it shows you crisis resources (988/911) and sends your counselor
an urgent notice so they can check in. This is a fixed safety rule.
- We do not sell your information, use it for advertising,
or share it with third parties for their own purposes.
How it is protected
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. On your device, your entries
are protected by the device's encryption and can be locked behind Face ID
or your passcode.
- Cloud services that handle your health information are HIPAA-eligible and
covered by a Business Associate Agreement (BAA). Access to your records is
limited to your assigned counselor and authorized clinic administrators,
and each access is logged.
- Because the clinic provides substance-use treatment, certain records are
also protected by federal 42 CFR Part 2, which requires
your consent before they are re-disclosed.
Your choices and rights
- Providing information is voluntary, though some features need it to work.
- You have rights regarding your health information under HIPAA (and Part 2),
including access to your records. Contact the clinic to exercise them.
- To stop using SessionBridge, ask the clinic to deactivate your account.
Children
SessionBridge is provided through the clinic to the patients it serves and
is not directed to the general public or to children.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will post the new effective date here and, when
appropriate, notify you through the clinic.
